If anyone has had the pleasure of cruising down the Princes Highway to the tranquil South Coast of New South Wales, then you know already just how stunning this part of the world is. Australia is certainly spoilt for choice when it comes to beach escape destinations, but there’s something extra about this region.

This is where local produce is celebrated, the landscape is pristine and the locals wear a smile on their dial. It’s this unique elixir that has tourists and regulars (like me) coming back for more every time.

In part one of this three part series we start off at Milton and head all the way to Tomakin just south of Bateman's Bay, for a trip featuring a stop at a winery, a camp site all to yourself and much more.

Milton & Ulladulla

Anything but a sleepy village, Milton is a quaint town just outside of Ulladulla. The main street is bound by an array of local homeware shops, bakeries, cafes and local produce. There are many award-winning restaurants in the area and in nearby Mollymook which are worth making a trip down for just by themselves to explore.

Ulladulla has fast become a hub of the South Coast, making it a popular stop off point for travellers to stretch their legs along the journey, or to stay at one of the many accommodation options in and around town. Surf shops, cafes and a few local clubs to have a hearty pub feed, there is no wonder why so many families flock to this part of the coastline.

Milk Haus

Appropriately named the Milk Haus is a whole foods cafe established in an old milk farm, with many of the neighbouring properties still in the dairy business. It’s full of character, with high ceilings, long communal tables and an open kitchen to take a sniz at all the action.

Local seasonal produce and baked goods ( from Kraken Bakery) are also available to purchase, perfect for that beachside picnic. The menu changes each month and is crafted around what local delights are available, bringing variety to the table.

If you’ve got little ones in tow or just a bit of a farmer at heart, take a walk around the vegetable patches and the chicken shed where you will be greeted by a mixture of chickens and feathered folk.

Regular markets are held at the property featuring local farmers, live music and dining events, there is always something to enjoy at the property.

Keep in mind that the secret is out and this once hidden gem is now on a fair few road trippers (and locals) radars, so it is worth booking ahead if you’re planning to dine here.
