Burgers, beer and beach- This new Illawarra hotel has it all

When you mix oceanic views with a fresh beer on tap and a burger straight from the grill you know you're in for a good time. The recently opened Headlands Hotel in Austinmer on the NSW South Coast is a dining gem offering some of the best bistro-style cuisine by the sea.

Less than an hour and a half from the big smoke of Sydney, diners will be delighted with the contemporary coastal cool of this hotel. Opening its doors in December 2016, Headlands Hotel is also soon to extend its seaside hospitality with over 60 self-contained luxury apartments with ocean views.

The bistro is uncomplicated pub food using fresh produce and a contemporary flair. It doesn't feel like your usual pub, the aroma of beer soaked carpets with a hint of cigarettes is replaced with a sea breeze and the grilling of beef from the busy kitchen.

With the experience culinary direction of Geoff Jansz, and Head Chef, Murray Hickey, Headlands Hotel is all about inventive, fresh classics appealing to all appetites.

Meals are generous in size and creative in their inclusion of ingredients. For that authentic pub meal by the beach meal go for the signature Headlands Burger made up of Prime Black Angus beef patty that is juicy and full flavoured matched with crispy pancetta, spiced tomato relish, melted cheddar on a brioche bun with onion rings, fries and coleslaw.

There are plenty of steaks and favourites like the chicken schnitzel and fish and chips as well a cafe style menu perfect for afternoon tea.

It is well worth the trek and is a hotel that celebrates the relaxed and growing food culture that is taking place within the Illawarra region.
